About

The Stokes Valley Cricket Club celebrated its 60th anniversary two seasons ago and has a proud recent record of achievement, having won two Hutt Valley Senior Championships and two Wilkinson Pearce Cup titles since the mid-1990s. In this time the club won back-to-back Hutt Valley Senior titles and then captured the new intercity Pearce Cup title in 1999/00 and again in 2000/01 - also winning the national club One-Day title in 2000. In this time they had a number of top performing players in their ranks, with off-spinning all-rounder Gordon Swinney (1995/96) and Grant Donaldson (2001/02) both topping the leading season run-scorers’ lists. In addition the club has won the Hutt Valley AJ Cook Shield for aggregate points on five occasions, most recently in 2005/06. Stokes Valley recently merged with Upper Hutt at senior level for several seasons, the combined 'Upper Valley' team winning the Senior Hazlett Trophy in 2006/07. Stokes Valley, home of legendary cricket scorer Ian Smith, currently fields four teams across four different Hutt Valley grades.
